4 Steps to Get Your Fence Estimate

Wishing you could snap your fingers and make that picture-perfect fence appear in your backyard?

While it might not happen quite that fast, AVO offers 4 easy steps to quickly obtain a fence estimate for any job. Whether you are starting from a photo, sketch, or rotting fence, our expert staff will help you get from the shop yard to the backyard in no time.

1. Select

AVO Fence & Supply’s website makes it easy for you to select fence by material, use, or type and submit a “Request for Quote” (RFQ) online. Browse sample projects online or visit any of our 3 locations in Stoughton, Hingham, or Plymouth to view fence styles and materials in person. Feel free to also share images or photos of fences that you like and we can help guide you in figuring out what will work best for your project.

2. Measure

Accurately measuring your fence line will help to determine how much material you need for your project. Make sure to confirm your property lines before you begin. Note any significant slopes or obstructions. Mark your corner posts by placing a stake where the fence panels will meet at a 90-degree angle. Measure the perimeter of the area you wish to enclose in feet, breaking the fence down into sections with the stakes as a guideline. Since fence panels typically come in 8-foot lengths, you don't want to set your posts any more than 8 feet apart. Be sure the tape measure is stretched tight, so that slack doesn’t affect the measurement. Think about what height you will want your fence to be and also where you might place any gates.

3. Sketch

Now that you've got your measurements, create a simple sketch so we can get you the most accurate quote possible. Don’t worry if your measurements are to scale or whether the drawing looks professional. What matters most is that the fence and measurements are clearly marked. Breakdown your sketch to include each section (or side) of fence needed, indicating the measurement for each. If a gate needs to be in a specific location you should also make a note of this on your drawing. AVO will be able to customize materials for your yard's layout.

4. Submit

Upload your sketch and measurements into our RFQ form online. You can also fax (781-341-8922) or submit them to us in person. Please indicate the style of fence you've chosen by referencing the product number from the website (i.e. L3 = 6 x 8 2" Square Lattice Panels). AVO will follow up with you if any additional information is needed before we can provide a quote. You can expect an accurate, itemized quote within 2 business days of when you send in the request.
